Graduate Long-term Student Exchange Program 2025-2026 in Niigata, Japan: Niigata University has announced that it is now accepting applications for its prestigious Graduate Long-term Student Exchange Program for the 2025-2026 academic year. This program is part of the G-DORM Project, which is a collaboration between Niigata University and four well-respected universities from the Mekong countries: Royal University of Phnom Penh (Cambodia), National University of Laos (Laos), Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (Vietnam).

This one-year exchange program, which starts on September 22, 2025, and ends on September 19, 2026, gives students the chance to do interdisciplinary research, take classes, and do internships related to industry in Japan.

Scholarship Benefits

The Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) will offer money to some students. Up to six students from the universities that are taking part will get a monthly stipend of up to 80,000 JPY (about $540 USD). This will be given to them for up to 12 months to help pay for things they need to live.

Who Can Apply?

The program is open to graduate students from partner universities who meet the following criteria:

  • To be eligible, you must be enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program at your home university during the exchange.
  • They must have an academic performance score of at least 2.30 points (calculated using the JASSO scholarship formula).
  • They also need to show that their English skills are strong in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
  • They must be in good physical and mental health.
  • They must be able to get a passport and visa on their own.
  • They should also be excited about working together on schoolwork and sharing different cultures.
  • Parental or guarantor consent is also required for program participation.

Academic & Research Activities

The program has a planned academic curriculum, including:

  • Group Work (GW) Internships: Project-based learning at industrial companies in Niigata.
  • Lab Work (Study-Project-Research): Research that aligns with the student’s field of specialization.
  • Specialized Lectures: Courses related to your major, Japanese language, and cross-cultural studies.
  • Upon completion, students will receive a certificate. Students will receive an official certificate from Niigata University.
